A Visit With Spoken Stitch and A Giveaway!

We love this time of year especially for the vintage decorations and beautiful lights delicately wound through trees and along many sidewalks.

Especially loved is the imagery created from simple white lights winding through our juniper bush with a lovely coating of light fluffy snow or frost on the bulbs and the gentle glow they cast around.
We love being able to light many beautiful candles for their delicate fragrance and their warm gentle glow which fills the house and dances on the walls.

A new addition in my stained glass endeavors are the goddesses.
Something about the flow of her curving lines and smooth transitions resonates within me and conveys the essence of interconnectedness of all things in this universe.
 She is a powerful symbol of protection and love offering a comforting feeling of nurturing and wellness to all within her domain.

Having been a bicycle mechanic for many years I enjoy working with my hands to create with a variety of mediums from recycled bike components to glass and combining the two to make interesting lamps, wind chimes, jewelry, furniture and household tools.  Recently I have been drawn into the TV series Secret Circle which I find to be very addictive and interesting, as I enjoy most in this vein, as well as yet another source of inspiration for future glass and other artwork.  When I am not making some artwork in my workshop, I love creating in the kitchen; desserts are a favorite and especially comforting at this time of year.  A hot oven to warm the kitchen all the while dispensing warm chewy slightly crispy cookies that go so well with slow cooked hot chocolate made from rich cocoa and brown sugar make the colder months so very manageable.

My favorite cookie recipe:

White Chocolate Cranberry Cookies


 Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Cook Time: 10 Minutes


Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

1 egg

1 tablespoon brandy



1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 cup white chocolate chips

1 cup dried cranberries



Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Prepare cookie sheet with parchment paper

In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and brandy.
Combine the flour and baking soda; stir into the sugar mixture. Mix in the white chocolate chips and cranberries.
 Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. For best results, take them out while they are still doughy.
 Allow cookies to cool for 1 minute on the cookie sheets before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
